This storm, although young, has some nasty possibilities but, it's anticipated track is is something to worry about.  See attached and toggle over to the eastern Caribbean and click the on button for the "forecast models". Currently, Tropical disturbance "IRENE" appears to be headed to SE Florida.

Looks like the east coast of Florida and/or the US is more at risk from Irene than South Seas.  Good for us, not so good for them.  Let's just hope she blows herself out before she does too much damage.

This storm originated in the Gulf (unusual) and although large and developing is not expected to threaten Florida.

Looks like KATIA will miss Florida but, the East Coast may get a one/two punch.

First hurricane of the season (2012) is possible and may hit SE Florida.  Probably little risk for Captiva.  This is unusual as hurricane season officially starts June 1st.
