How are rentals going?  Anyone having any success?  Are you seeing rates picking up, now that the resort is open?  I'm trying to rent my Harborview Week 51.  I've got it listed on redweek.com, vrob.com and a couple of other sites.  Any suggestions?

I agree Don, Han's site is much better for that.

I find trading is superior to renting.  You get the time you want at the resort you want and no hassle dealing with the SSIR real estate people.  Sure, you don"t get the net rental fee, which is usually the equivalent of a one or two day rental.

I used Interval International and it was a surprisingly good experience and the cost was I thought very reasonable.  We traded into two five star resorts which were truly first class in every respect...and no amenities fee.  One was in Telluride, CO at Fairmonts' Franz Klammer Lodge to catch the turning of the aspen trees and do some serious horseback riding and fly fishing.  The other was at the Masters Lodge in Mesquite NV and included a golf cart, we played every day and lost money at the poker table almost every night.

That was a nice change because, except for golf I don't do any of these things in Florida.

While I have a rental link posted, it's a pain in the butt to actualy update. Hans's site is probably the best for that.

Hans's site is classy and first rate. At some point in time I wish we could merge the two, but I know the "free for all" nature of this one doesn't sync with his, however I encourage people to use his site for listings etc. and to review board posting etc.

It's a great site with a lot of info and while it may not be linked to our pow wow here, we're linked to his site on the captiva-isle home page.

Use his site for listings, etc.

I have one of my Harbourview weeks listed on vrbo site.  I have gotten a number of inquiries although nothing has panned out yet.  I'm also listed on the Casaybel owners site - they have an option for rentals outside of Casybel.

AS far as trading, I spent a great amount of time last Nov researching this option.  We were originally given membership in Interval International when we bought our Harborview week which was due to expire in 07.  I looked into Interval, RCI and Hilton Grand Vacations Club and Hilton won hands down They were running a special membership drive -which enabled you to join for $284 which gave you access to all the Hilton Grand resorts, all the RCI resorts (2 -3 times the number of Interval) and the ability to to convert your club points (which expire each year) to Hilton Honors points at Hilton Hotels and affiliates all over the world and these points never expire.  No contest in my book.
