whk3rd & glenn;

Lucky guys, Our President will be visiting in Ft Myers next Tuesday and I have arranged front row seating for you and your families.  Be sure to bring a baseball cap for a BO signature.  Along with the front row seat you will be required to ask a few questions...suggestions below.

1. Why do republicans dislike retired people?
2. Is there anything in the current recovery bill for retired people?
3. Have you ever caught a snook or are you a cat fish guy?
4. Why can't Acorn Society get more than $5.0 BILLION for advancing their cause?
5. Why can't we just "all get along"?

I'm sure you have better questions.  reebop could probably add a few.

See paragraph 5 for schedule.  Just kidding about the front row seats.

Despite an economy which would not encourage travel the attached stats for the Sanibel/Captiva Causeway are impressive.  Attached thanks to Hans.

It might be noted however, a lot of the traffic in 2005 and 2006 and 2007 was a result of high construction activity, not tourists.  How well the Islands recover from Charlie will be revealed in 2009, 2010 and 2011 and beyond.  The world wide recession will greatly influence traffic in the early years so the out years will be the real test.  For what it is worth, I think we will hit new traffic records by 2011.

Hey, Glenn, are you still in that seminar?  Have you uncovered any new news on the plantation?  We are counting down to our time in the sun next week.

Thought the attached grocery service might be of interest to some Forum members.

Been extremely busy so I haven't been posting.  80 pages per thread . . . news to me, but I'm glad a continuation was started.

Thanks, Captivated.  The delivery service from Jerry's and Bailey's sounds like a pretty good deal.  Solves the problem of having a car packed with suitcases and no room for groceries on the way in to the resort.  We usually have to make a trip back to Sanibel for groceries.

Yippee. Finally did the water slides this afternoon after most of the kids left. Mommy and Daddy both watched. I thought the slides would be like, totally lame, but the curved one was not too shabby. I feel bad that my dad still wants me to grow up. But I have to feel that at 55, it's probable I might grow old, but I will never grow up.
Tons of young kids at the pools. But still the resort seems empty.
Lady Chadwick filled every trip.
Much warmer but now No-See-Ums Out unless the winds pick up as they did today.
New Art Gallery in "Chadwick Square" where the old gift shop was next to Chadwicks.
Watched as the Sanibel Thriller passed the T-dock and turned left up the channel. They hit Warp Drive and boy that boat moved. Water was spewing out the back like a geyser. It could not have been more that 2 minutes before it was in the main North-South channel.
Had a great sunset with some gals who have been coming down since 1977 hoping to get some photos of the place from back then.

1 more day before it is all over for til next year. No wanna go home

Sorry about that whkr3rd, we all know that horrible feeling deep down in our gut when we are down to the last few days in paradise!  But, there is always next year and even though it always changes, it seems to always be a great experience!

Meant to post yesterday morning but had already cleaned up papers including Wayport code. Internet worked great. Went to the Cottages board meeting got some interesting things to tell but don't have time today. Just a quick comment on Glenn's post on Hans site. Let me just point out I was very happy with the resort this year so I'm just commenting on these two new features.

South Seas Island Outfitters. Is located under the Hotel next to Harbourside Bar and Grill.  Here is their PR Quote.

"South Seas Island Outfitters is our newest resort outlet geared toward the outdoors and focusing upon the time tested tradition of fly fishing the pristine waters of Pine Island Sound and the Gulf of Mexico. In addition to featuring outdoor gear suitable for boating, birding or a walk along the beach, South Seas Island Outfitters also carries a selection of Resort logo apparel as well as Patagonia, Simms, Columbia and Steiner Optics."

So it's half quality clothes and half fishing gear.

My wife said it was the " Stupidest store I have ever seen."  " A Waste of Space."

Swimtastic Swim School is located in the former Towel Building located at the King's Crown gate entrance to the pool.  For 2 weeks I watched the poor young woman who worked there approach moms and dads at the various pools to tell them about the school. She was nice, friendly and bubbly. I spoke to her on the last day she was still very upbeat but after 2 weeks had not had a single sale and had been treated very rudely by some people. Now it was cold but there were THOUSANDS OF KIDS in the pools. (Exaggeration). I commend LXR for trying new things but have the feeling they are throwing mud at the wall to see what sticks

We are in Ft. Meyers today, ready to check-in tomorrow afternoon.  It's sunny and over 80 today.  We loaded up at Costco this afternoon.  Costco was packed, as was its gas station.  Traffic seems heavy.

As always, we will be thrilled as we cross onto the Sanibel causeway.  We won't even complain if there is heavy traffice on Periwinkle.  It beats below feezing weather!

Hope you picked up some stone crab claws at Costco's Friday sea food market...if not, go back, you won't regret it. Promise
