I think timeshares also have a bad name.  When I say we're going to our timeshare people look at me like I'm someone with poor judgment or some rube who got scammed.  Those of us in the "know," know different.

Boy, is that the truth. I used to tell friends we where "going to spend a few weeks at our place in Florida". They seemed impressed.

Now I say we are going to our Florida Time Share for a few weeks kind of apologetically.  However, when I say they can join us for a week of golf, fishing, sun shine, pools, spa, nice resort restaurants and fantastic views etc. they get very interested..  Things change.

Is it time to buy?  If you are going to do a leveraged investment at these low interest rates, now might be a good time.

Captivated, let us know if Redweek works for you.

At the PBC pool parties, an owner mentioned he had posted one of his weeks on Redweek, and by the next day had rented the week.  Another owner said he had so many inquiries on his VRBO listings that next year he is going to raise the prices.  Both these owners commented about how late some people are looking to make reservations.

Then there are the lucky people who spare of the moment have the time to stay an extra week!  We met several of those this year.

Thus far, Redweeek has NOT been a good experience. Evidentially, they have  permitted an arrangement with an outfit called "vacationsonly" which has a number of nubile Realtors which undercut your offering within seconds of your registration.  They are offering property they do not own. Those Realtors then eventually want to get a buyer at a bid less than yours and sell it to you at the much lesser price..

The whole thing looks like a scam to me.

Good to know, Captivated.

Redweek is probably not a scam, but scammers have a way of working their way into our lives in every conceivable way.

Hang in there.  Memorial Day is a long way off in these days when families are making last minute vacation plans.  Maybe LXR has the right strategy in going for Florida families who can drive to Captiva.

While we were there we met a couple and their two young teenagers who were at the Plantation for a week for the first time.  I felt sorry for them.  They were staying in a Harbourside room.  They pointed to their room near the Harbourside Grill.    Think of the 2 bedroom timeshare they could have had for less money if they only knew.

Good News and Bad News,

Good--Refinanced my unit.

Bad--It took 2 1/2 years to find someone to refinance a Captiva "Condo/Hotel, and 6 1/2 months from commitment to close!!!

What a nightmare.
